4) My Texas Driver License has expired for more than 2 years and I live in another state, how can I renew my driver license?
If your Texas Driver License has been expired for more than two years, you must appear in person at any Texas Driver License office and pass the written, driving* and vision examinations. In addition, you will also be required to reapply as an original applicant, present proof of Identity and proof of Social Security Number and may be assigned a new driver license number. 37 Texas Administrative Code 15.35, 37 Texas Administrative Code 15.51, 37 Texas Administrative Code 15.52, 37 Texas Administrative Code 15.56, Texas Transportation Code 521.161, Texas Transportation Code 521.273.
* Applicant must provide vehicle.
